Hello,

I bought a mint used tom Anderson Cobra S black olive with binding
quilted maple top on mahogany, mahogany African rosewood fretboard
matching headstock, satin back
1 11/16 nut, heavy frets
Buzz feiten tuning system
vintage chrome tremolo
locking tuners
m1, mi h2+
5 way, pull adds bridge, MMM, splitter for bridge W on pos5

I was wondering if there was a different pickup I could use in the bridge to make the guitar brighter and more edge/aggression? and is there something different that can be done to open up the pickups in he neck in the middle more? The guitar sounds a little muddy/dark to me right now..

Amp is a bogner XTC classic

Re: Anderson Cobra S pickup recommmendations

Are the pickups humbuckers or single coils? I don't know andersons codes, so I haven't a clue as to what pickups you have in there now. If you want bright with edge and agression, it doesn't get much more edgy than the screamin demon. To open up the neck position in a guitar, I'd go with either the Jazz or the pearly gates, but I think you'll like the jazz more. If the neck and middle are both single coils, just get surfers and be done with it, or if you want to go noiseless, get the classic stack +'s, they're supposed to be about 95% of the way there (there being the idealized single coil tone)

Re: Anderson Cobra S pickup recommmendations

Have you tried raising the pickup? I have a Cobra S with the H2+ and it is anything but muddy and dark (THe H2+ is similar to a JB but has more low midrange, low end and a smoother top) I'd suggest an Anderson H3 bridge. It is everything you described.

If y ou are unsure call Roy or Tom at Anderson (Yes you can talk directly with Tom if Roy isnt there) and t hey will help you find the right pickup. 1-805-498-1747
