Another attempt - chevelle

Tried this on my jackson with the pearly gates bridge and cool rail split on my crate v3112T. Used my black box and the new seinheizer e609 mic to record (big improvement)

Funny, I was listening to this Chevelle CD on my way to work this morning.

Your playing sounds good, but the bass on the recording seems a little loose or a little too much, and there maybe too much preamp distortion. Anyone else hearing this, or is it my tired ears?

I had never heard a high gain recording on a Tone Tubby before, and I always wished someone did. Most people use it for light breakup, blues type stuff. How do like it for rawk/metal?

Re: Another attempt - chevelle

I realized i had too much preamp distortion(way too much), it was just a first attemp at playing while going with it on guitar pro. I might mess with it tomorrow night and see if i can fix it. I didn't have the amp up very loud either so that kinda makes it hard to sound good with recording with a mic into my black box.

It is hard to tell the bass because i'm using laptop built in speakers to monitor afterwards. I'm thinking if i used just the pearly gates it would have helped. I need to work on my picking most of all and holding on to it! I keep half dropping it when i play.

I really have no clue about speakers, but i like how it sounds in distortion. I'm kinda new on guitar amps/speakers...

I do think i should take it away from the wall when recording, that should help...

good song...good band...i found myself singing right along!

Re: Another attempt - chevelle

Updated it with some less distortion (still probably too much) and tried to make it sound better by turning the amp for recording.

Oh, this new version sounds better -- tighter bass, preamp fizz decreased. I can hear more articulation in the notes. Like you said-- still a touch much pre distortion if your goal is to sound like the recording, but whatever, it's close enough.
