So Dimarzio no likey other manufacturers selling mismatched humbuckers, right?
NOW listen to this!Single coils of duncan 'buckers with rods or slugs and half width magnets, also each model RWRP version. Now u can match them to your heart's desiresWould this technically work?I know it might not work proving cost prohibiting, but hey what if?A good start would be custom,59 and patb1 coil.Hope it doesn't sound too stupid though...

Re: Another marketing idea...If it is possible...

Typical single coils are larger than the humbucker bobbins length wise. That might be a problem.

Re: Another marketing idea...If it is possible...

How about TB or normal length bobbins, with single coil sized bottom plate except no traditional curve where conductor cable leaves the pickup(like new construction sc sized buckers,or the old hot rails in my 80's steinberger gr4).Could even make a sliding rail and one inlet to the side of the bottom plate to firmly hold 2 singles together.I've seen single coils with magnet under the rods, just don't know about the magnetic field side effects of having 2 of them so close.A good space saving idea might be a construction along the lines of old hot rails, meaning no plastic cover, just tape around the pickup and plastic top.

Re: Another marketing idea...If it is possible...

Not stupid, but I don't think it's a marketable idea. 99% of the people who buy pickups don't spend time obsessing about mismatched coils and the like. It would be nice for the other 1% though. There's always the Custom Shop...
