I traded off an ugly white Jackson 7 string for this brand new Epi Les Paul Standard. To a former student down the road actually...
He hates Gibsons and I Hate things that look like Fenduuurrrrrrrs.... So it was mutually win win!

Supposedly it has pearly gates pickups, which I will verify soon.
I think this is an Epiphone LP Standard 60's
Bourbon Burst, laurel fretboard, figured maple top.
Indonesia made. Weighs right about 9.2 lbs.

Anyhow, here she is. Not sure what I'm going to do with her yet....she may stay in std E because she chords like amazing! It's glorious! I haven't used Pearly Gates in a long time.

I tried pulling off some soft blues riffs with it.... And then I remembered I don't know any of those....

Pickups are not high enough gain for the chugga chugga that I like so much.... We shall see what her future holds. Maybe new pickups? Maybe Facebook marketplace, maybe I'll give it to the girls....who knows.

This is like 3 guitars in the last 3 weeks. The broken Harley Benton, the Gibson LPJ in chocolate, and now this.... Wonder what Wednesday will bring:cool2:

Anyhow. Obligatory porn pics:

That's a nice looking guitar. I dig it as is. If you black it out it'll look kind of like Rex's Tribute, but with binding. Would you change the knobs and plastics too?

A quick Sound byte.
switching thru 4 channels of the JVM
These pickups are not hot, but this guitar does sustain very well I think. For not even setting it up yet.

That's some admirable tone. I'm convinced those could likely be Pearly Gates. At least IME, I've never heard an Epi sound like that off the rack. Maybe they are out there, and maybe I'm wrong, but the bite and the feedback sounds like Pearly to me, and that considering the pickups are covered.

Is that a full size lp? Looks small.

Its an optical illusion next to my girth! And it is outlined in the photo, the others all got the same finish out to the edges.
yes it's full sized.
plus the BFG has horizontal lines on it and is closer, so it looks huge ha ha ha. ( and fittingly sounds huge too!)

Not only looks fantastic, but the tones are amazing! Don't change a thing about that guitar.

Thank you sir!
this guitar and pickup set has a really sweet (and totally different for me) set of tones to them..I am trying to capture something that's way out of my range for y'all to hear what I'm hearing.

It's just a random thrown together kind of riff, but it's what I'm hearing this guitar want to play sort of ....thing.. ha!

And the first time I've ever used the loop pedal that's been on my shelf for a while.
