Another "old fart's club" clip

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Nicely played and great tone, but I especially loved the tone on the solo part.

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Hey, thanks for the listens, guys! The tone on the solo section was the P90 neck p'up, vol about 7, tone about 5, amp vol 3, tone 4. That lovely fat hollowbody sound comes through great! The beginning section had the same amp setting, middle switch postion to add the bridge P90, pickup settings about the same on that pickup.

i love that tune !!! ... sweet version of it :) ... very cool "wiggle stick" action on the 'sleepy' chords :D .. and i liked your note choice increasingly as the solo went on ... very appropriate phrasing that seemed to be very in sync with the buttery tone you were getting .. the merge into a blues feel really gave it personality ...

thanks for sharing it with us

cheers

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Thanks, tone4days! I wiffed a few chords in the first part and stumbled over some notes in the solo section, but it was fun. I usually play this a little slower than this backing runs. I probably should have practiced it for a couple days before trying to record it, but...eh

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

ALF I loved the tone and feel of the solo section. Great melodic phrasing as usual. This old fart has got to get something ready to post. I am trying to get my wife to do some vocals on a piece. Hopefully something to post soon.

Nice smooth palying and very sweet tone ALF... a cool mellow mood to kick off the week quietly on this gray and chilly Monday morning (in Montreal at least). Cheers! :)

Whow!
Nice tone!! Nice tune!! Nice playing it´s really smooth and calm.
At the beginning it´s a bit less "laid back" but later you can feel the coolness. So good!

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Thanks a lot for listening guys. I should have rehearsed it more before posting a recording, but I've been off the board so long I didn't want you guys to forget about me :D

Al C., looking forward to hearing the lovely Mrs. Al C on a tune! We should get together and collaborate on something!

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

One of my all time faves! Love that song-I've tried for a long time to get it right-still trying.

That Savage is hot stuff too!

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Thanks again guys! Now I really wish I would have polished this a little more :smack:

Al, checked and returned :smoker:

Here's the setup I used to record this, it's a lot of fun to play!

...If only they made THOSE in lefty, for old farts on a beer budget.....

Always a treat bro, you've been sorely missed!

Re: Another "old fart's club" clip

Calm yourself bro!!

This is the best shot I've got of the guitar face I think. I've strung the strings over the pressure bar on the Bigsby to make it more like a Gretsch version Bigsby. It feels really nice and has a great action to the vibrato.
