Another pickup swap.

I bought this amazing Natural V a little while ago.

It was born with Burstbuckers 2-3 in it ... decent pickups if you just play rock and roll.

I swapped in a blackened Black Winter because...(The BrooTz!).
This past week I have been a tiny, teensy bit underwhelmed.... It's sounds a bit over pushed, not muddy, but no matter how I adjust height,I wasn't perfectly happy....

For reference, I have an TB-6 in both my Explorer and my Les Paul and also my custom Dean V.
AND I have a Black Winter in my Faded V.... They all sound as close to perfect as I've ever found.

You know when you have that itch that won't go away: ... So I just went out to the garage and wired in a regular ol TB-6 I had on the shelf.

Absolute and immediate perfection! !!

I couldn't be happier.

I may swap the neck pup out with something being unused on my shelf.... just for aesthetics.

I have not tried the neck pickup..... On almost any of my guitars...ever.... Ha ha ha.

Well .. I posted that and then I got off my lazy arse and went outside and just did it.

I had a black DMT and a black Alt8 Sh15, so I put the alt8 in the neck spot, it matches better.

She may be complete now!

I DID flick the switch to make sure the pup works... Sounded dark and mean.... For the entire 5 seconds the toggle was flipped anyhow.

Test complete.

The pickup is now dead to me !

You'd be a perfect candidate for my idea of replacing the 3-way toggle, with a simple on-off switch. Hard wire the bridge to the volume pot. Connect the neck to the toggle. Then, for your main bridge sound, you never have to worry about the switch contacts going flaky, and you can flip the switch to add a bit of warmth, or depth, to your overall sound.

Good idea!

Also, I wish more guitars were made like this:

Us, metalhead, knuckle draggers would be so much happier.
I don't ever play neck pickups..... I hate those tones for the most part.
