Another Ronno trib- Epi LPC

I’m always looking for a good candidate for doing a Mick Ronson tribute. They need be solid guitars with something that makes them affordable to start with. This one was filthy, corroded and neglected but was otherwise a nice 2000 MIK Epi LPC. I was hoping it was a plaintop under the finish but surprise! Great neck, why they dont still use this width and profile now is beyond me.

59 bridge, Epi 57 neck(sd A5/dewaxed), Bourns vol/CTS tone pots, OD 223/153 caps, switchcraft jack and toggle.

This was likely painted over because of a small flaw.

They had written on it in pencil and then did the poly sealer, luckily I got that out without destroying the veneer.

Cool, that one just looks stripped, it isn't detailed to be like Ronno's. I've made a couple Epi ones, no reason for me to tear up a Gibson unless it was already distressed. There are a few people out there that make them from time to time. I enjoy doing it and I'll flip to someone at some point to another fan of Mick's and spread the love.

Amazing they put such a beautiful top under black.

Gibson did it in the 50's.... Several guys have found flamed maple under goldtop finishes or even black. First I ever heard of was Tom Scholz' Les Paul....
