You can use the toneport for jamming, yes. You don't even need a recording software to use it (only if you want to record, of course). Turn on gear box, plug in your toneport, plug your guitar and speakers to the toneport and jam away!

I didn't know that. But excuse me for sounding a little dumb here. What's a gear box? What ohms does the tone port enable usage of? It really has a speaker out?

Gearbox is the software that comes with the toneport, I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I think the toneport has a line out, not sure about a speaker out.
Tone port has many outputs.Digital coaxial to line outs. You cannot use it with passive speakers ,since it ha sno power amp! It's a sound card wich uses teh Computer as an amp!The Gearbox is the program that runs on your comp. wich gives you all the tones ,sampling rate adjustments and volume control.

I run my toneports outputs into a sampson 120watt stereo amp and play it thru cerwin vega monitors ....it sounds awesome! I also rigged a guitar imput to some speaker wire and sometimes run it (thru the power amp)in mono thru my 2X12 combos speakers..not the amp just the speakers with the power off,I have considered doing this at a live jam,but dont really know how the pc/monitor will do on stage :6:
anyway yeh you can do alot with it,though Im considering getting a PODxt and Atomic amp so I can get the same sounds with ease playing out.
