is for a buddy. He just got an Ibanez RGT42FXQM and of course ready to put some Seymour's in it.(but which one's).See he's also got an s370 with sh-4/sh-2 set,and I have an rg370dx with tb-6/sh-6n set(the best p/u's IMO),but anyway..He wants something versatile.I recommended the SH-5/SH-PG1.So what does the seymour experts think?

The SH2/SH4 combo (i.e. Hot Rodded / JB + Jazz) should already be extremely versatile. Maybe he should start by describing how the Jazz and/or JB don't do what he needs them to do.

Yea. The JB/Jazz is a versitile set. The custom is versitile as well. It i has PAF qualities with more output and thickness. A '59 neck would work well with the custom

I just installed a Custom and a 59n into an RG570 and it sounds killer. A PGn will also work very well.

True, the '59 /Custom would be cool to get to experience. So far I've never played a guitar with the Custom in it :(

If you want versatility I have to agree with the "59"/Custom. You can pretty much cover everything with this set!! Smooth jazz riffs to AC/DC!!

Oh,he loves the hot rodded set and is thinking about putting these into his RGT42FXQM,but is still open for other highly recommended(Seymour Duncan) pups.
Thanks for the input.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm not saying other sets aren't versatile, just that if he's got the Jazz/JB, which is very versatile, and he wants something else, he could tell us stuff like "the JB sounds snarly", etc, describe what he doesn't like so some people can help him find out what he would like better....

Re: Another which pickup thread, but this one

maybe a c5 might sound good

Re: Another which pickup thread, but this one

The PATB series also get a lot of rave reviews... people say they're underrated, the best line of pickups SD has to offer, etc so that might be a "different than JB/Jazz" route to check out.
