Antiquities in a Double Fat Strat

Since I got all and then some of my strat sounds covered with my new CS Strat I am going to hotrod the crap out of my Road Worn 50's Strat with HB's. The body is alder, ultra thin nitro finish, super resonant and a very warm and deep sounding guitar for a strat. I prefer low to med output, very airy paf voiced pickups. Has anyone tried an anytiquity set in a strat? I can't think of ever seeing it posted.

I think I can say that I have extensive knowledge with what you are asking.

But one thing: Ants have long legs, and you might have to be obliged to route the body. Are you prepared for that?

Ant neck sounds phenomenal in strat necks. Cannot be beaten in my opinion. The bridge is ok too, but I prefer a4's or a5's depending on how bright the guitar is. They simply turn a strat into a monster...

Always fancied using this smiley...

On the other hand, a PATB-3 and a4 59n is also a killer set, in my opinion. Cheaper. The neck sounds a bit more "strat" with an a4 59n, as opposed to a more mellow yet hallow sounding tone that you'd obtain with an ant neck HB.

Re: Antiquities in a Double Fat Strat

I've done it and I loved it. I changed it out because...well...I can't think of a good reason other than I guess I just wanted to try every pickup I could get my hands on. Taking them out was pretty much the dumbest thing I could have done with that guitar.

Re: Antiquities in a Double Fat Strat

Antiquity HB's turned my alder H-H strat into a worry-free, LP-like guitar. That setup allowed me to do open-air, under the sun soundchecks and play without going out of tune for which my LP was useless. And with the 2 other guitarists using strats, I had a nice contrasting tone.

I wish I had more Ant's to put in my other guitars.

Re: Antiquities in a Double Fat Strat

If it works and you have the pickups, go with it.

If I had to custom pick a set, it'd be a C5/59 hybrid in the bridge, and PGn.
