antiquities texas hot custom bridge

Hi,

To those who have used this pickups, what would be its pros and cons in relation to the non-custom one? I understand that this is a hotter pickup so how will it differ tonally? I'm planning to use it on a '57 copy fender jap strat with 2-piece alder body.

Thanks!

i had a set of texas hot with custom bridge which i just sold to larry_ember. the custom bridge really balance itself both in output and tone with the neck and middle. they balanced so well that there's no need to install a fralin bassplate on the custom bridge which i bought together with the set.

the inherent icepick highs and tinny tone associated with the bridge position single coil of a strat is virtually non-existant with the custom bridge. you will be surprised by the thick mids and rounded highs. i highly recommend the custom bridge with the rw/rp middle and neck for optimum balance in tone and output.

I was gonna write a big long post about this, but I won't...just read the above post twice more and sign my name to it!

The Custom bridge is cool if you're a rocker or blues guy, but I like "normal" bridge pickups for country and for the all-important "Knopfleresque" pos. #4. :burnout:

I love the Texas Hots that I have in my guitar now. I wrote the above mentioned review the first day I got them in the guitar and I still feel the same about them. Next year I am going to build a Srat on my own (with some help from my friends). Now the question is????? do I get another set of Texas Hots or do I go with the Sufers??? I think the Sufers this time around!

Benjy, very well put...That's exactly what I've been wondering. The THCB is beefy and thick, and still straty, but how do I say it not perfectly straty...being extra beefy it loses a bit of what I think of as pure strat vibe. But for guys who don't like strat bridge pickups, this is a very, good thing and the THCB is an excellent pickup. Sometimes I think it's a bit too beefy. I wonder what in the Texas Hot vintage wind bridge pickup would be like. My next strat will probably have a vintage wind bridge pup for the more Knopfler like stuff. It's all give a take.

Roll the tone back on this pickup and it gets so warm and sweet...with round full notes that it's are not to love this pickup...and it does give very nice notch tone.

I think Lew is right OVERALL this may be one of the best strat bridge pickups...
