Are these A2 mag or A5? If they're A2, has anyone tried subbing an A5 in one? Wouldn't this then yield a slightly hotter unpotted 59?

antiquity humbuckers are aged alnico 2, ive never tried an a5 but others have. im sure its a great a5 paf bucker

I've not done it (I like the Antiquities as they are) but it has been done and talked abot on the forum, if you do a search for A5 Antiquity you're bound to find something...

I did it with the bridge pup and i liked my 59B better in my ES. Its not the reedy woody tone any more, but it not cutting like the 59 either. I settled with a full A2.
But the jury likes to hear a A3 in the neck in comparison to the stock aged A2, or even an A5.
BTW in my LP i tried a Seth Lover A5 - great - no mud - jazz/blues tone
