what is the antiquity custom bridge for the strat? is it just a bridge version of the surfer/ texas hot that is just wound hotter, or is it a seperate pickup?
It is sold as a separate pickup though. You can get the Antiquity I Custom Bridge or Antiquity II Custom Bridge. Gearjonser is using what's probably an Antiquity I Custom Bridge with Antiquity II neck and middle pickups. You buy them all individually in separate boxes. They don't come as a boxed set...you can mix 'em up or just buy one. Lew
and also, is the middle position for the surfer rw/rp or do u have to specify that? im asking because i ordered the surfer neck and middle, and the texas bridge, and i want to know if im gonna get a rw/rp middle and a hotter bridge.
in general i like very warm tones but i have a set of the surfers and i think the antiquty II custom bridge is great. does the hendrix thing and the buddy guy thing great. very nice snappy but full and not at all shrill. not as big as the texas hots but with more bite and spank. it sounds very close to a 63 strat that i played and it suprised me how bright the '63 neck pup was but i really liked it. the surfers have that same thing going on. good stuff.
i can see how the antiquity I would work well to, but i have a set of those ready to be installed when i get done building a body
nepalnt,
I think you should take a look at the Antiquity page in the Products section on the SD main site. Look at both the Antiquity Texas Hots description, and the Antiquity II Surfer description just below it.
there are two Custom bridge versions, and I can understand how that might be a little confusing
the Antiquity Texas Hots have a Custom bridge. They use alnico 2 magnets.
the Antiquity II Surfers also have a Custom Bridge model. These pickups use alnico 5 magnets. (they're somewhat brighter than Antiquity Texas Hots due to the difference in magnets).
