Antiquity humbucker as singlecoil?

Hello,

I have installed my new antiquity's in my LP and they sound awesome.

When i touch the bridge pup and press down on the pup, slighty which changes its angle slighty, the sound switches to singlecoil sound.

My question is if this is a loose connection in the pup or if the pup can be wired as singlecoil?

Re: Antiquity humbucker as singlecoil?

A stock Ant HB should have single conductor + shield output cable. Hence, the only way to coil split would be to physically jam something conductive into the pickup so as to make contact with the link wires between the two coils. (NOT RECOMMENDED!!!) To complete the coil split, this conductive object would then need to be grounded to a suitable point in the guitar control circuit.

By pressing against the pickup, what you are actually doing is moving one coil closer to the vibrating strings, increasing the induced signal from that coil at the expense of the second, temporarily more distant, coil. The difference in signal from each coil will cause the raised coil to overpower the lowered one. This imbalance will give the illusion of a single coil tonality and, simultaneously, reduce the hum-cancelling effect.
