I think I am sold on the ants but was wondering how they compared to the alnico II pro as far as clean tones. The sound samples of the alnico II pro sounded great distorted but Im not too sure about the clean sound. i have never heard the ants clean so if someone could describe that as well it would be great. I am putting it in a gibson 335.

I have a Les Paul with Ants and another with Alnico II Pros and love them both. To my ears the Ants are warmer and have more midrange honk, whereas the AII Pros have a more balanced "hi fi" tone. The top end of the Ants is smoother, the top end of the AII Pros brighter with more 'sizzle'. As I said, I love both - but I think I'd go with the Ants if I could only keep one set. I bet they sound great in a 335.

I agree with Simon. Go with Ants for a 335. Actually Ants are my all around favorite humbucker. They both sound great, but there's a certain way that Ants articulate notes that I didn;t find with the A2P. Also, as Simon mentioned, there's that majic that happens in the mid-range that is very cool, the way real PAFs sound.

Thank you, I am pretty much sold on the Ants. Now I just need to convince the wife I need them lol.

I also wondered how the sound changes between different bridge pups that have higher or lower dc resistance. Should I go to a small dealer and have a certain dc resistance picked out?

Thanks
