Re: Antiquity II mini-humbuckers
I had one in the neck of my Tele. I absolutely loved the sound of it, but I never could make it work with a single coil in the bridge. The minibucker was too dark and too powerfull. I tried everything: I changed the Ant. I single in the bridge to a Jerry Donahue (darker and hotter), I changed the pots to 500K and added resistors to the single to keep it 200K, I bypassed the tone controll for the mini etc. No matter what i did it soundet like the two pickups belonged in two different guitars.
I sold the mini to a friend who put it in the neck of his Tele. He kept the 250K pots and didn't mind the sound difference. He's happy. So maybe it's just me.
Anyway... If I was to do it all over again I would go for a brighter mini. The Ant. Firebird is a pretty dark sounding pickup.
