I just purchased a set of the Surfer Strat pups with the custom "Hot" bridge and I don't get it...The polarity is the same as the neck & middle but it is wound the other direction of those pickups...is this a mistake or what is Duncan thinking winding the pickup in the other direction from the neck & middle with no polarity change. first of all, I don't like the RWRP concept so I ordered 2 stock Surfer Antiquity II Stratocaster pups and with all the rave reviews from Lew & others I thought "What the hell...Let's beef up the bridge" and went for the Custom Surfer Bridge PUP. should they not all be the same polarity & wind direction?? I guess I will return the bridge pup and just get another stock 6k Antiquity Surfer pup & be done. Can anyone shed some light on this for me...Please!! :smack:

I think what Lew has said before is that to get hum canceling? You need to have a RW/RP for the middle pickup, not sure why? You just do. So you SHOULD have 1 regular neck surfer, a RW/RP surfer for the middle, and a Hot Bridge, if you want Hum cancelling that is. I dont really know the after effects if you dont use a RW/RP middle pickup.
Maybe Lew or one of the smarter dudes might come and answer this a bit, he seems to know alot about the subject.

You're experiencing something we've all run into and there's an easy solution.
Simply swap the neck and middle pickups, but wire them normally with the whites to the 5 way, and the blacks to ground.
Then, put the Ant Custom bridge in normally, but reverse the white and black wires, so the black goes to the 5 way, and the white goes to the pot ground along with the black wires from the neck and middle.
You'll be fine then.
