Antiquity magnet swap for pwr & mids/bass?

What magnet would slightly increase the output of the Antiquity bridge, and bring out more mids and bass?

I have a Gibson custom shop chambered historic reissue (CR8). The bridge is too thin (due to the change in accoustics of the guitar I am guessing). And the output of the guitar is lower too, in comparison to my R8 (solid HM).

My antiquity bridge is 8.40K DC.

In a nutshell, it needs a bit more BEEF.

Thanks!

An UOA5 would give you a beefier tone, but just a slight increase of output.

An A8 will give you all the beef you need and then some, plus a noticeable increase in output, but it will kill the vintage vibe. If you don't mind that, it's a no-brainer...

I have an UOA5 Ant set in my #2 guitar and I LOVE the bridge p'up tone, plus no problem with output, I do get the early-slight-breakup and also very musical controlled feedback in my Blackface, no prob at all.

HTH,

+1. I also put an UOA5 in my AntB, it just didn't have much bite and cut before then. Fully-charged A2's are low output and have the least treble of any magnet; when they're aged, you lose even more treble and output.

A8's will kick up the output but you lose some of the vintage dynamics. Depends on your priorities.

More treble is the LAST thing I need. The guitar is shriller than a regular solid wood les paul.

I need to boost up the BASS and MIDRANGE.

Thanks!

Let me know when you find out. I have an alnico II 10k Antiquity in one of my Les Pauls, and to me it's pretty bright and needs a little more umph.

Re: Antiquity magnet swap for pwr & mids/bass?

Full strength roughcast A2
UOA5
300k volume pot
A8 if you must, it wouldn't work for me, but it's your guitar.

I don't like the weak magnet in the bridge Ant, it's OK to excellent in the neck, depending on the guitar. Any of the more powerful mags are an improvement IMO, just choose which flavor you want.

If it were mine & I wanted thicker & only wanted to do it once, I would put in a A2 or UOA5 (depending on how much tighter I wanted it) & 300k volume pot.
