Any companies/parts builders that build a Super-Tele?

Ok, I do believe I asked this a few months ago but I got no hits so let me try once again (plus the search function is not working right now so I can't find said previous thread).

I have always been a superstrat guy but recently I've been wanting to expand a little bit. So I got an LP-ish guitar and then I thought about a Tele. Except I have absolutely no use for a normal Tele, so why not make it a SuperTele instead?

What I want is the general Tele body but with all the typical Super-Strat specs and appointments:
Rear-routed, HH, 24-frets, a master volume/master tone/3-way toggle control layout, Floyd Rose, forearm contour, belly cut and a contoured heel.

So far I have found that at some point Jackson used to build one except I can find almost next to nothing about it, let alone how to get my hands on one.

I thought of building one from parts but USACG won't build a 24-fretted one and Warmoth which does goes REALLY crazy with the up-charges for the afore mentioned appointments. A quick spec-out that I did came out at 1300 USD and that's without the tuners, any of the electronics apart from the SD pickups OR the finish and assembly. Adding those in will come at about 1600 USD which gets me pretty close to one-man-custom-shop territory, plus I am not really very keen on paying that much money for a project.

Any ideas guys?

Charvel might offer something close to your desired spec.

With Warmoth, your choice of a 24-fret neck and FR routing will be what kicks up the price. Check their clearance bargains section. This is how I landed my mahogany Cabronita Telecaster body in Charger Green.

how much were you looking to keep the price around? $1600 isn't outrageous for a top quality guitar built to your specs, but if you weren't looking to spend that much you may have to make some sacrifices (no belly cut/countoured heel etc etc)

Re: Any companies/parts builders that build a Super-Tele?

Body: $175 + shipping from Musikraft. You just have to add a note to contour the heel. Everything else you want for the body is digitally selectable, with no upcharges. For the rear-mounted controls, you can choose Charvelle style or "large kidney" style. Probably best to call them up to make sure you get what you want. Or just order it with the rear cavity routed, and add the holes through the top on your own.

Neck: $227 from Warmoth. 24 frets, maple on maple, 10-16" radius, 6150 frets, cut and drilled for R5 nut.

Seems like an easy sub-$1,000 build to me, even with the high cost of a Floyd. That's assuming you do your own finishing.

Thanks, they seem to have most of the things I wanted, I was kinda wanting another Wenge neck after I was so happy with the one my Stinnett has but not a deal-breaker, Mahogany would do fine. I speced one at about 800 USD for neck+body, I'd expect it to go at about 1200-1300, not bad!

Certainly not outrageous but if I can get a truly hand-made custom built guitar for about 2000 USD (perhaps a bit more) then the question will come as to why pay that much for a parts guitar and not a few hundreds extra for a whole custom guitar.

No, it was an 80s SuperTele, double humbucker. Thanks for looking though!!!

Kramer used to make one in the 80s. if you dont mind used.

Charvel had that tele shaped pro mod a coupla years back..

Kramer and ESP made super tele's. I see the Kramer's pop up now and then and you'd have a better chance of tracking down a unicorn then find an original ESP The Eclipse.

I think it'd actually be best to get a tele and do the mods yourself. Nothing too fancy and expensive to begin with. Go with like a higher-end Squier Tele, or a MIM Fender telecaster, used would save a lot of money. Sell the parts you won't be keeping to help raise money back for the guitar, and by the end of the day you'll have a body and neck. If the non-24 frets is a deal-breaker, sell the neck and get one with 24 frets.

Then route for the floyd, fill the original neck pup route and re-route for the new neck pickup placement. If the non-rear route is a deal breaker, fill the original control cavity and re-route from the back. Probably a good idea to refinish by that point. The whole project should be well under $1000 to get exactly what you want, and you'll have the satisfaction of DIY. You'll just have to put forward the time and effort.
