Any Crate V58 owners here?

I bought a used but mint Crate V58, all tube amp with a 8" speaker.. this little puppy is loud and has bite, it's 5 class A watts sound like a lot more!! Anyhow, I want to mod it, it's perfect for blues and I can get some heavy tones but I know that in the long run it won't do for the metal I play...anyone have one? I'll probably replace the tubes to get more grit out of it, and I've heard some people use it to run much larger cabinets and make more ballsy sounds.

I've never tried that one, but I have a VC5212 and love it. Crate makes nice tube amps in spite of their reputation with solid state stuff.

What's their rep with solid state? I had a 2x10 crate solid state amp with celestions..it sounded good but I had a lot of problems, sound would cut out, or just "fade" had it repaired, worked for a little while, then did it again so one day I just picked it up and smashed the hell out of it.
