Any Electronic Repair Gurus In the House?

I need to bypass a faulty gain fader on my accoustic guitar to fulfill a gig. Anyone with any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can post pics and schemes to anyone who would like to help out on this dilemma!

There should be three terminals on it just like a volume pot. If one goes to ground, then jumper the other two and see how that works. Lew

After removing the fader, I have tried every configuration of jumpers to no avail. The guitar has been working for the last 10-12 years, but in the last few weeks I have been experiencing some static conciding with lower frequencies. I decided to disassemble the Ovation to clean things up and do some troubleshooting. I found several culprits and repaired them all short of the cracked fader. Now, I am getting no signals other than static resembling a shorted circuit. I will post a pic of the circuitboard within the next few minutes if that will help.

Okay Lew, this thing was really kicking my arse!! I have had to pretty much reconnect everything! It is an older Ovation so the electronics are in separate components in contrast to newer one-piece models. 1st the ground from the 1/4" jack to the preamp circuitboard was not connected. Of course it was hidden under the shrink wrap, so that took forever to notice. I guess that is the source of the intial static and I finished it off during disassembly. Then I noticed the transformer on the board was loose, so I refreshed that connection. Even then, I still didn't get a signal. So I took the bridge apart and discovered that the groundwire on the UST was non-existent. I fixed that and FINALLY I got sound when I jumped the circuit for the missing fader. Well, I guess I shouldnt have any problems once I permanently fix the problem! Thanks for the concurring advice. Now I can get some rest before the performance!! Talk about a stressful and enraging experience!!!

BTW, after reading this post it sounds as though this guitar was a pawn shop special or something... I have had the guitar since '92 and never a problem until last week. I was getting static from the lower freqs when jamming, so I took it apart this afternoon to check the connections. Which brings me to now. I have probably been jamming with an armed timebomb for some time now. At least I fixed it BEFORE it caused a problem on stage!! Later guys!
