Any experience with the 2016 Gibson Memphis ES-339 Studios?

These are the four-knob 339s. Wine red or ginger burst.

The price is high, no doubt, but I don't see reviews of these guitars anywhere.

Does anyone here have any experience with them?

Are you willing to call an independent music store for an opinion?

They handle PRS, Gibson, Fender, and other manufacturers. Have done business with this store and I am extremely satisfied with the staff and service.

Jesus. They're listed at $2000 for a studio. Sadly, the 339/336 series take huge dents in resale value. That's bad news for sellers, but good for guys looking to score a deal. Find yourself a used ES-339 with better appointments for $500 less. There's a couple on eBay for $1500.

I don't own a 339 studio, but it's distant cousin, the CS- 336. They both are apples and oranges (339 vs. 336), but the consensus is that they're fruits. Gibson's intention was to create two guitars that merge the lines that separate the 335 and Les Paul. They can lean more on one side depending on their construction. You won't be nailing 335 or Les Paul tones to a T. You get in the ballpark in some aspects, but they have their own specific sound. This why most people like them or hate them. I dig mine, it's been my dream guitar since I was 19.

Edit: I imagine that the difference between this and a ES-339 are simply the appointments. Tonal, they should be almost the same. Hope this helps.

No prob. It looks like they put "upgraded" pickups and caps to justify the price hike. These also have maple necks, not mahogany.

I just saw the prices for ES-339s... Wow, I'm shocked. I paid $2500 for my CS-336 (used) and its in a rare Frost Blue finish. I had a 339 years ago and it was $1750. Buy used. You'll have many neck options on the 339s. 50s, 60s, 30/60 neck profiles
