Any Hohner SG Lion Professional Guitar Owners???

Hey guys, I picked up a Hohner SG Lion Professional the other day at the pawn shop. It's a pretty nice guitar, but I cannot figure out how to set up the Kahler type (Korean knock-off) tremelo system. Everytime I tune it up the bridge is jacked way up. Anybody out there have one that could help me figure out how to lower this bridge? I will post pics tonight. Thanks!!!

(I'm not certain as I've never owned a Kahler, but...) I'm pretty sure it's like a floyd or a vintage trem, you need to either screw the claw springs tighter, or if that's not enough, add another spring to counteract the string tension.

I have a SG Lion Pro. Gently used, works great with my weekend warrior band setup. I too was having the problems you mention. $75 at my local guitar shop luthier took care of it. He tightened it down so now everything is cool. I am not a tremolo guy (prefer my fingers) so I tend to stay away from the bar (actually don't even have one that fits it haha) but when I do use it it tends to tighten up the tuning nuts to the point where I can't tweak the tuning, so I stay away from it. Love the guitar, but am dreaming of getting rid of it and putting proceeds towards a LP Studio with Min-e tune so no more tuning worries ever.

The Höhner vibrato bridge spring tension must be adjusted via the hex headed grub screw halfway along the back edge of the moving cam section. (Allen key job. Requires patience but NOT seventy five Dollars' worth!)

Had an ST Scorpion with the same trem but the cheap potmetal base broke years ago and ended up blocking it solid

What you do is, unscrew that c**p fake Kahler, throw it in the trash and call these guys up http://www.wammiworld.com/Accutune.php to get a replacement. I have had a bunch of Korean guitars from the 80's, and every one of the Accutune trems has broken on me. Plus they never stayed in tune for c**p, anyway.

You get a plate that goes over the existing hole,

the Kahler goes on the plate

and then you get a decent trem that sounds good and stays in tune. Plus you can get parts for it when you drop the screw in the dark bar during your set and can't find it...
http://www.wammiworld.com/ I bought a couple Kahlers from these guys, their prices were good and they shipped fast. Nice guys to deal with.

Or, you could just fill the enormous swimming pool and get a stop tail bridge and be done with it...

That looks like one of Kahler's hardtail/fixed bridges.

Fixed or vibrato, the superior materials will bring tonal and sustain improvements.

Next move, junking those Select-by-EMG pickups.

Actually the Selects aren't *that* bad. THey sound awesome and are dead silent in the bass I have. Of course they don't do much good for high-gain stuff in a guitar, but if you want glassy clean rythym stuff, they wrok great. so YMMV...

Wow, what a thread resurrection. Anyway, I found out that the reason the action was so jacked up, was because the neck joint was weak. The tension was bowing the neck. There is no way to fix it without pulling the fingerboard and resetting the neck. It is now firewood to me.

Hi everyone,
I just saw one of this series for sale in France, for just 200 euros, and wanted to get information about the guitar. Thanks for sharing information. On Google I found a guy who really struggled with the trem to make it work again. There is a manufacturing problem with this series. Here's the link:

Sorry for exhuming an old thread. Sorry for my bad English. Hope you enjoy this piece of information. I wish you the best for 2015.

Re: Any Hohner SG Lion Professional Guitar Owners???

Perhaps, but the guitar needed overall work on things I am incapable of fixing - I am an accountant, not a luthier. :) Thanks for the tip, though, I will use the allen key on that hex screw in the future.
