Re: Any Hot Stack for Strat Users?
I have one in the middle position of my Kramer Pacer. The neck pickup is the Hot Rails and the bridge is the Custom.
I'm in the process of changing out the neck and bridge. The bridge Custom should be a trembucker, but I got it back in the late 80s. Not sure if it was available then. The Hot Rails is way too hot. A very thick and louder than humbucker tone...which is fine if that is what you're after, but I want a more traditional Strat tone these days from the front and middle.
I've been tempted in getting a D******* YJM neck and middle, but after hearing the tone samples on this website, I think I'm going to go with another Hot Stack in the neck and keep the middle.
I like how they sound like a single coil with just a little bit more oomph....and they're hum canceling. Currently I have the middle Hot Stack hooked to a switch to choose either full, hum canceling output (louder) or split (which turns off one of the coils so it's lower output and not hum canceling).
My guitar has a Floyd Rose which really brings out the brightness. Because of that, when I redo everything, I'm going to simply install the Hot Stacks full hum canceling mode with no switch. The split mode is simply too tinny on my guitar and I never use it.
I'm happy with the Hot Stack. :bigthumb:
