Lace alumitones are something special that breaks the habits of the very conservative world of guitarists .
You won't find here a lot of adventurers who tried them .
As you know from 7string forum , I have them and recommend them too .
Just do it man !

The deathbucker is not the same as the deathbar as there is twice more magnet .
In this guitar the deathbar is too powerful for my tastes , and I will put another x-bar in the bridge spot .

Hey fab. Are you over on 7string as well? Ive thought about going with 2 xbars. Im very hesitant about the laces. Reviews are completely conflicting. Lots of people hate them but a few people love em. I typically am into things that others are not so i feel i might like them.
I play highgain "brutal" stuff most of the time so im drawn to the deathbar (though i like my gain low enough to have a nice clear sound where you can still hear the notes being played, like necrophagists album epitaph) but i hear about this topend underlying harshness/noise so perhaps 2 xbars are the way to go.
Can they get into brutal territory? I figure its more about what you throw at them as far a preamps etc.
Im figuring of going ahead and trying the dual deathbar or xbar because i believe the cavity in my guitar will be small so if it turns out i hate them i can just enlarge the cavity a bit to fit in a custom fanned seymour black winter or something

Two x-bar works fine as you can hear them on Ola Englund's clip or other Strandberg ones .
Those pickup are very precise and transparent , they let the acoustic sound to come through .
If you want it brutal with not much gain the deathbar could be a better choice in the bridge ,
with an x-bar neck which can't be surpassed imho .
For my guitar the deathbar doesn't do it , too much power and bass and not enough treebles ,
but if your guitar is a bit dry , bright , it might work .

Deathbar bridge X-bar neck sounds like a killer combo for metal. If they are anything like the Alumitones and Deathbuckers, you should be able to get a great clean sound. Which, of course, will make for a brutal distorted sound.

Well, I didn't know much about it, but it's clearly voiced more towards metal, which puts it miles beyond the original Alumitone. Hell...I bet it'd kick ass in a bass set up purely for dirt tones.
I'll have to disagree on the original Alumitone. I had a set of those in a Dean Caddy and while the clean was absolutely fantastic, they had the worst dirty tone I've ever heard.

The normal Alumitone dirts up like the weakest sc you’ve ever heard. No mids for punch and the loosest lows, ever.
At the time, LoG type gain. Nowadays, more classic “Gibson into Marshall” tone. It sucked at both.
Back then, tighter, thrashier stuff. Now, more 70s/early 80s.
The Deathbucker excels at both. The original Alumitone didn’t. Great cleans, though.

Here is a very good clip of comparing the dual x-bar with other sets of Duncan Pegasus ( the best I found after the x-bar ) / Sentient ( drowned by the x-bar neck ) , EMG and Fluence pickups .
I found that the x-bar set is coming through the mix way better .

I'm not a big fan of Flying V's, but those pups match that color scheme perfectly. Nice axe.
I only have 6 string guitars and 4 string basses but I’ve tried the Deathbucker and much prefer it to the standard Alumitone. It’s much better suited to gain since it’s voiced more like a standard humbucker.

Hy Gmork ; I installed the X-bar at the bridge today and it just does what I expected .
There is not a big difference in output with the Deathbar , less bass , low strings are more lively and precise ,
more treebles , a faster attack on all strings .
It makes a very nice p-u for leads , and better for rhythms as well .
Before I thought the Deathbar was bassy compared to the X-bar neck , now I found the X-bar neck too sweet compared to the X-bar bridge ,
which has power and bite , and I had to rise the neck p-u closer to the strings ...
So it works fine dual X-bars !
