Any one heard the Live version of McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed"?

I guess that's the title. Anyway the lead tone is fantastic. It sounds alot like Michael Schenker's half-kokked wah tone. Any of you guys know if that's what he's doing also?

I've got the cd & dvd....Jimmy's playing a SG thru a Marshall & from what I recall, it's all fingers from there.

I get very close tone with my 'Bird, Edana & SFX-03

Cool. You know what I mean about a sort of 'vowel' tone he has? Do you hear it that way too?

He gets that tone with the wah on, and halfway down on the pedal. Jimmy Page also got a similiar tone on the solo break on Whole Lotta Love.

Wings Over America, baby.

IMO there are so few instances of a song transcending the studio versions of them. Maybe I'm Amazed and REO's Golden Country are prime examples of that.

Yeah, I know what ya' mean about that tone...I'll have to give it a shot.

Jimmy had great tone throughout that album...great player :bigok:

If you can find it (I got mine off E-bay), grab that DVD....GREAT concert video. I remember seeing it when it came out...they showed it at the midnight movies in the theatres down here :bigthumb:

Well, I was there in 1976, but I don't remember much... :fingersx:

Jimmy did have a great tone, though. A lot of it was his phrasing and vibrato. Really squeezed the notes and made them sing. What has he been doing lately?

FYI, the Faces do a great live version also! It's on one of their studio records, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

It used to be on HBO all the time- like 81 or so. I remember seeing that and the Concert for Kampuchea all the time.

He kept on stickin' his hand in the medicine jar.

i wore the vinyl out on that ... so much good stuff ... and yeah, jimmy mccullough really was a fine player ... too bad about his demons dragging him down .. how is the quality of that dvd? is it remastered, cleaned up, etc? or did some guy bootleg it by pointing his video camera ata televsion while he played a bootleg VHS tape? :D

My brother stole it from me a while back & I haven't watched it in a while, but the quality was/is very good.

When I get it back from him, I'll check the production on it.....and the wah question.

There's a couple three versions of "Maybe..." on the Faces box set.
