Any Peavey/EVH Wolfgang Users here?

Re: Any Peavey/EVH Wolfgang Users here?

I owned an EVH Wolfgang Special a few years ago... If I had a complaint, it would be the frets, and that is it. The guitar sounded killer, played killer, and I sold it out of necessity, and regret it every day.

Personally, I would buy a used Japanese one, I played the Chinese ones, and they are just not the same but are the same price. I thought the overall feel of the neck was better on the Japanese than on even the USA ones, I think the Japanese frets were rolled and the USA ones were not, I can't recall.

There is a Guitar Center by me selling a Peavey Wolfgang Special for $599... I should go fiddle with it after I get off work :scratchch

what do you mean by rolled? rounded? I remember when they came out they said they have a maple top I thought wow thats cool. Some ads you will see advertised with a flat maple top and the chinese with a veneer top. The evh site i found out that the japanese has a veneer top hmm. Well mine's a Japanese one:) love the stainless wish it had a German floyd!

I think any guitar made in Japan is a major win.;) I've even saw an Aria Pro II in the pawn shop that was made in Japan. The guitar was beyond exceptional quality. Remember, Fender Stratocasters made in Japan back in the early 90's were far more superior than the U.S. made models and Fender U.S.A. took serious note of this. They were just like the Strats made back in the 50's when Leo was at the helm. Chinese made guitars can be a hit or a miss. It all depends and I would highly recommend actually playing one before any purchase. I have an '06 Epiphone Les Paul Standard made in China that is a super a killer guitar that I picked up in the pawn shop for an amazing price. The quality & sound was there from the get-go and it was hanging on the wall with some of the higher-end guitars that get that special location in the store. Back then, people thought guitars made in Japan were crap. Oh how times have changed. Chinese made guitars today are probably going through the same stigma. It's just a matter of time before they can get recognised for some quality work.:)

I've done this to my '98 American Standard as pictured in my avatar. The guitar plays much better with rolled or rounded edges. I hope this video will inspire you.;)

Nice job! Like I said earlier I had the EXP special the frets are soft and wear fast, just a heads up. Im sure you can redo them easy.

You can find a USA made peavey special on ebay or guitar center for around the same price as the Korean exp. I've even seen some peavey wolfgang standards for under a grand

Thanks for all the help guys.

My purchase of a new guitar is on hold for a while, but when I am in a better position to buy I'm definitely checking out a Wolfgang of somekind!
