I haven't played one in a while, but when they first came out, one of my friends got one and it was a nice guitar!

One thing to note with those is that the maple/ebony (atleast it was ebony on my friends') neck will give a different type of tone than the mahogany combo commonly associated with p90s. Some will like it and some won't, but it's a detail that should be considered before settling down unseen.

I played a strat-o-sonic a few months ago and it is a very well made great sounding guitar. It does not sound quite as warm as my prs soap II, but it had better articualtion and feel. One thing I didnt like is the neck is a thin C shape and I prefer a thicker neck like the CS 56. The fretboard was rosewood not ebony, and I believe that is the current spec.
List is aprox 1550 and they were selling it for 1100 which is why I went for the prs at another store for 400.
