Any Semi-Hollow Schecter C-1 owners?

Specifically the 12 String or Piezo equipped semi hollow C-1's. I liked them when they came out but never had a chance to play one. Any impressions?

I have a buddy who has the semi C-1E/A. Pretty cool guitar, but he doesn't play as much as he should.

Re: Any Semi-Hollow Schecter C-1 owners?

I had the C-1 E/A for a while, ended up trading it for an epiphone g-400 and a squier strat. They're good guitars, only problem is the necks are seriously thin. However, they've got great action, just not really inspiring to play. I figured out that I didn't play it enough to justify having it (only about once every 2-3 weeks) so I traded it.

If you like toothpick-thin necks, big frets, and relatively low action, go for it. It just wasn't my thing.

Oh yeah, and I tend to prefer 50's necks on gibsons, .880"+ thick necks on fenders so YMMV. The neck felt small to me but I prefer bigger necks.

I've got a C-1 already, I don't dislike the neck. How were the Tones, both piezo and electric?

Re: Any Semi-Hollow Schecter C-1 owners?

Piezo tones were very good, very acoustic-like. The duncan designed pickup in there were good, but I had them swapped out for GFS mean 90's and as I later found out (once I sold it) they were wired wrong - low output, really thin sounds. In retrospect Probably why I didn't play it much.

But the piezo tones were great, the duncan designed pickups were a bit lacking on the high end from what I remember. Passable though, you could get convincing versions of everything from jazz to rock n' roll out of it. I imagine it'd sound leaps and bounds better with a pearly gates, jazz, or '59 set though.

The guitar itself was much brighter than the amplified sound would suggest - really quite balanced IIRC. The sound from the pickups was somewhat dark. The Piezo sound was much closer to the unplugged sound from what I remember.

I don't want it to sound like I'm ragging on the guitar, it was really quite good - I just didn't play it nearly enough to justify keeping it. That and it wasn't 'magical' like my guitars that got played a lot. Don't get me wrong, great action, good tones, all that - I just never found myself getting lost in the moment playing it.

A bud of mine bought one. He bought it right before he started playing in a pop punk band.. I thought it was a strange choice, but it played great and performed very well for the gigs.. I played it once or twice, but never had the chance to really explore all the tones, but it was typical Schecter goodness
