Any Thoughts on the Bill Lawrence L200 for Strat?

I have a guy offering me a set of these in a loaded pickguard as a part trade for an MIM neck I have. Are they any good? What's the B/M/T and output of them as well?

Re: Any Thoughts on the Bill Lawrence L200 for Strat?

I've never used the L200s–here is the link to them from Bill'nBecky.

Per their website:

"L-200S

#1. The L-280S pickups are probably the most versatile
and functions well in most guitars and with most amps. Using different height adjustments and an assortment of amp settings, the L280S can reproduce a wide range of sounds, especially if the player uses a variety of right hand techniques. It's often described as a soft P-90! And with the L-290SL in the bridge position, it is our most popular replacement set!

#2. The L-200S is different. While the L-280S reproduces a very linear harmonic spectrum, the L-200S, with some dips in the lower midrange and some nice peaks in the upper midrange, gives you a more "Stratty" sound without losing that certain sweetness. It you like the 50's sound, the L-200S is for you!

#3. The L-298S is "The Working Horse of our Noisefree
Singles". It performs at its best in the lead position where you need rich lows, combined with a good amount of bite, without getting muddy or harsh. The L298S, in combination with our Q-filter, can give you the widest variety of sounds, ranging from Ultra-Sweet to High Power Performance! "

Again, never used them. I've loved every Bill Lawrence pickup I've used–USA and BnB.

Best of luck!

You can't go wrong with Bill Lawrence stuff. It's always a dead quiet pickup with articulation and clean power. And it's affordable.

How do they compare to the L45? I hear the L45 is really versatile, but there is little info on them out there. Just based on the online description I might have to buy a set of these as well.

Sorry I can't compare them as I've never used any of the L200s.

That being said, my Tele is loaded with the L45S and L48TL. This by far the most versatile set of Tele pickups I've ever used. They can get the Tele Twang but they can also go into Metal Territory. They are clear and articulate no matter how much gain you pile on.

A fellow guitar player I know liked my setup so much he went with the L45S in the neck with a L500XL in the bridge of his Super Strat.

I would say it is similar to the L500C but has more of a single coil feel than the L500C. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Any Thoughts on the Bill Lawrence L200 for Strat?

Anybody got any sound clips? The only ones I can find on YouTube are fairly low quality.

Re: Any Thoughts on the Bill Lawrence L200 for Strat?

I thought I had posted some clips but aparently I only have a quick demo of a JMS Kudzu pedal of the neck and bridge pickup with my L45S and L48TL going straight thru the pedal into my iPhone.

If you were in the Dallas area I'd say lets meet up at a GC or something so you could play in but looks like you are too far for that. lol

Sweet. Hey Trey, how close is what plays on YT to what you hear in your room?

P.S. I wish BL made a P-90.

Pretty dog gone close to my ears. Obviously this is going straight thru my phone so no amp is coloring the sound...so there's that caveat in the sake of full disclosure.

BLUSA makes a L550 which is supposed to be a P90 sized version of the L500. You can find them on eBay/Reverb.

Not sure if Becky or Shannon (Wilde Bill Lawrence) can make it for you or not...it's not listed on the website.

I seem to remember that one of Bill's steel guitar pickups fit in a P90 rout.

There's the L550 that is supposed to be for the P90 route and they also offer some larger ones for Steel Guitar...someone suggested the Steel Guitar version for a Thunderbird bass pickup replacement because it was longer.
