any thoughts on the Vox AC15???

We might be showcasing a band pretty soon. The singer plays rthymn, and needs a good amp for that. It doesn't need to be high gain, but a really good tone for rthymn with a Tele. What do you think about the AC15? Are they unreliable?

well, the originals were great, and loud - 15 watts of class A is almost loud enough to gig with

I played one with 2x12's (kinda rare), and it was some of the best tone I've ever had

I don't know about the new ones, though

the new ac15 that i tried sounded great. nice clean tone with the volume lower and a great overdrive when turned up all the way. itll only get so loud clean but it should be enough to get over a drummer

I really like Vox AC-15's, mostly because they're like a small AC-30 with rev. and trem. Personally, for a Tele, I think something fatter sounding is better, like a Fender combo with 1-12 2-12,
or a Peavey Delta Blues with a 15 inch speaker.

I like the AC-15's but they have a bright top end, which may or may not be what you want for a Tele. I think Fender type breakup is better for a Tele IMO. I'd suggest hearing your singer/rhythm player with both type of amps, and see which one sits in the mix better.

I'm not sure where he is with budget right now. The AC15 sounds like it could work, but the reliability is suspect. I mentioned the Dr.Z Z-28, which is modelled after the old Fender Brownface Deluxe. That could be a good one to go with. Of course, the 15 watt Bogner Metro. would be the ultimate, but you got to lay down some serious cash for those, and I don't know if he's up to that right now...

Thanks again!
