all i have is a standard fender stratocaster with a peavy amp. The amp has a clean channel and the pre/post gains. it has a switch for modern and vintage sound. and it has a low medium and high knob. The stratocaster has the standard 5 way switch with 3 single coil pickups. which settings should i use to get a good blink-182 or green day sound?

Yeah, the 666 gives a good standard punk tone. Also Tom Delonge use to use an SD Invader in his strat with one volume knob.

Re: any tips or ideas?

Cool. The Invader isn't too popular though because most people agree that it's crap. But if you're looking for the Tom Delonge sound well that's what he uses. Maybe it would help you to know that he has a signature model out already...

i know he has out a signature model but i already have the stratocaster and the signature model is 700 dollars and well i have no money so im just gonna make a "signature tom delonge" myself

Please define "most people"...I know dozens of people here any in RL that use them, and I´ve sold quite a few as well. Granted nowhere near as popular as the JB, but far from "crap"...I´m interested in what this is based on....;)

Actually, his deal with Fender ended quite a while ago, he´s been playing Gibsons for a while now with reissued Dirty Fingers (which IMO are nothing near the originals)

Thank you. I was starting to feel kinda lonely on this one :) Lots of people think the Invader is muddy, but just as many people bitch about the JB being too shrill. Seymour has been making the Invader for quite awhile, and something tells me he wouldn't be if it was "crap." ;)

well was it an SD-Invader or an SH-8 Invader

Same thing, the invader will get you there with a half decent amp, to nail it you will probably want to go with mesa's but on a budget you can get pretty close with the invader and most amps.

To be honest you wont really be able to get there with stock singles, untill you get the humbucker its not goin to sound 'right'.

The new blink sound (new album) is his gibson with the dirty fingers, although alot of it isnt that different to his invader tone.

As for the invader being crap is laughable, its certainly not suited to all sorts of music, but its very, very far from being crap.

Many poeple (not on this forum) that I have talked to have said it was crap. Tried it myself, thought it was crap. In general, I thought it was crap. Sorry if I was generalizing, next time I'll put a big IMO. :)

Re: any tips or ideas?

i fitted one for the other guitarist in my band, i thought it was quite a tight sounding pickup far from being crap, a very usefull and great sounding pickup. toms sound is kinda tight really low gain chug type of sound that he gets from his mesa's clean channel with the invader and a lot of gain on the clean channel(though relitivly low gain compared to a distorion/lead channel). i probably wouldent bother converting the strat into a delonge strat though, just add the invader and keep the rest the same, you will get bored of just having one sound, you arent exactly going to be able to get beautiful cleans out of a bridge humbucker most of the time and the power of the invader will further this, its probably best to have a single coil in the neck for clean stuff and for the more gainy crunchy sounds switch to the bridge invader.
