Any Tremel-no users here?

I've got 2 trem equiped guitars, a G&L Legacy with the standard G&L non locking trem and a Tele with a OFR. I originally got it for the Tele with the Floyd, but now I've thought about it that guitar is really quite stable tuning wise although I got the Tremel-no so that the Tele would dive only. I'm just wondering if the G&L would benefit more from having the Tremel-no fitted. This guitar doesn't hold it's tuning very well in the first place even with just moderate vibrato, but will the Tremel-no help? :friday:

Re: Any Tremel-no users here?

I never use those things tho because i need my bridge to be floating.. i sometimes hate how complicated i can be with this subject and which i hadnt discovered the bar in the first place lol but i feel crippled on a dive only trem or even worse on a hardtail.. im just a bar kinda guy i guess. With allot of trial and error and cussing i managed to get my strat, which had a standard non locking trem, to stay in tune even when doing crazy dive bombs and all that. With all that done it was too much of a hassle that i recently said screw it and took the ****ed thing out and installed an OFR.. my life is much easier now.

That said generally tuning problems like that start at the nut, tuners, string tree area but a tremol-no would help some since it would make the bridge fall back into place at the exact same spot all the time.. this always helps. You could also check your knife edges to see if they are damaged that would also help if you use the bar often. Make sure you tune "up" to pitch and instead of winding the strings down the post wind them up and in a neat coil without over lapping the string and raise the string trees if not remove em completly. Winding up will reduce the angle on the string so helping prevent the string from jaming in the nut altho it will rob you some sustain a bit, my strat didnt come with string trees installed so i never used them.. i found using as minimum string turns on the post helped too, 2 turns should be more than enough to secure the string in place if winded properly imo. Also using heavier strings and atleast 4 springs i found helped too for some reason... Seemed to make the whole thing steadier.

Re: Any Tremel-no users here?

I have a Tremol-No in my Floyd guitar.
Got it in 'cause I DON'T really care for pull-ups and wanted it to go dive-only.

Installation was simple enough (but you have to go by feel when finding the angle the claw must have in relation to the trem block) and it did hold somewhat good.
(If you forget it's there and go crazy with the bar it WILL go out of whack!)

Another added bonus is that when the Tremol-No is blocked (i.e. Hardtail mode) there is a perceivable increase in sustain and a tad more clarity (since the springs no longer vibrate).

Makes strings changes and tuning a lot easier too.

However, for the life of me I couldn't get that guitar to stay in tune and in that regard the Tremol-No did absolutely nothing.

She has been at my tech for some time now, trying to figure this thing out actually...

Re: Any Tremel-no users here?

I have one in my Yamaha YSG. It stays locked off at all times.

In my opinion, the Yamaha OEM vibrato design blows chunks. AFAIK, there is nothing else on the market that fits the cavity and existing bolt holes. The Tremel-No saved my Yamaha YSG from being ruthlessly sold into slavery.

Re: Any Tremel-no users here?

I have a Tremol-No in two of my guitars, and they are an amazing invention. I can go from fully locked to full floating in seconds, so its perfect for differing solos during a set. I highly recommend one, and I'd also agree about it increasing sustain. The spring claw is really well made and I'm pretty sure that helps improve the tone travel to the guitar body.

Re: Any Tremel-no users here?

Thanks for replies guys, I'm going to throw it in the Tele with the Floyd.

Hey Funkfingers, any chance of seeing some pics of the YSG? I had a beautiful Blueburst hardtail for a few years and sold it to a mate after his begging got unbearable. Wish I still had it.
