Anybody have any experience with Genz Benz El Diablo?

I was just in my local music store and saw an El Diablo 100-watt. I don't think I've ever heard mention of one on this forum. I was just curious as to if any of you have tried one. I didn't try it out since I was with my little boy.

I've played one once, it was pretty metal.

Never played one, but it looks cool!

You should try it out and see how it sounds. They are going new for about $1300 on the interweb.

I use the El Diablo 60C. It is a great amp. Cleans to relatively high gain are very nice. Marshall-esque to Mesa-esque dependng on how you set it up. It has to be about the most versitile 2 channel amp I have hit on ...

See ... http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid=1399&sid=416&cid=91

As for clean try this ...

El Diablo Clean Channel on 7 (pramp and master) hit hard with an SD-1 and it is still darn clean withe EL-34's. 6L6's are very Fenderish.

Amazing amp, wildly versatile - gets great modern sounds and a nice dose of classic tones. HOWEVER, I HATE tons of switches and amps that require a ton of tweaking. This amp needs tweaking. I have never gigged with one, but A/B's against a Bogner, the Bogner SHIVA won. I like classic full tone.

This does not have nearly the switches and dials of a triple rect for example. Nor nearly any Mesa for that matter. It does not have any more than my Carvin X100b, nor of my Fender Pro Tube Pro Reverb. So I am not sure that I would say that it is an intense tweak amp at all.

But, it does have some very useful knobs and swithces, that work well for various things. As I end up doing various projects this amp is voiced to do a a great job and really fits in a mix well.

I haven't forgotten about y'all, just busy. Ah, Marshall/GB/everything else... decisions decisions. Must have Marshall, but you know it's E-bay, used, beat, etc, whereas this one's new, relatively inexpensive and right next door.

Ah well, gonna have to go and play it. I hope they don't mind me bringing in my TubeScreamer and SL-1. The sales guys there might learn a thing or two about guitar setups after they see that axe. They definitely won't learn a thing about playing, tho.

Be sure to check out the manual for inital settings. It has ACTIVE eq and the settings make big adjustments with little changes. The manual will do a nice job of getting you into the region you are looking for with the amp.

I'm looking for the region between 80's metal and Judas Priest Jugulator grind

You've never steered me wrong. I'm thinking I'm still going 2205/10 or Jub/Slash.
