Anybody have or use Logic Express 8?

Re: Anybody have or use Logic Express 8?

have it....haven't used it. but it seems pretty straight forward (i've tested some guitar amp simulators and midi drum programs through it, just haven't done a full song yet, but that is coming soon). the apple site has a quick start guide that you can use instead of the real manual, which is like 800 pages.

Hmmm, just doesn't live up to Logic Pro, huh?

Re: Anybody have or use Logic Express 8?

I'm using Logic Pro 8, which is essentially the same program with a few more bells and whistles that are not necessarily essential for the basics of recording. I am always confounded by those who describe it as "illogical," it makes me wonder what they could possibly be doing wrong. Recording into Logic 8 is a very simple and straightforward process, as are editing and mixing, as long as you have an idea of what it is you want to achieve and the fundamental skills required. The last track I recorded from scratch in the space of one day was this one... http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6640847 I recorded the tracks in a day and mixed it the next, and it was up on Soundclick that afternoon. At no point did Logic do anything that got in the way of the workflow.

wahwah, that sounds GREAT! All I'm using right now is GarageBand, so I definitely need an upgrade. I used to use ProTools and whatnot when I had a PC, but since switching to Mac, I just need more in the way of mixing. I'm pretty new to it, would you say Logic Express is a good choice for entry level recordings?

Re: Anybody have or use Logic Express 8?

I use Sonar Cakewalk 3.0. I really got used to it over 4 years though. I have an m-audio audio interface with 10 in, 10 out. My only problem with it is it takes too much space on the hard drive to record the ideas which are later thrown away. All the wavs are stored in the same folder, and i don't know which ones to delete. So i am now using a ZOOM recorder to record my ideas instead - straight to mp3, in very small size.
