Anybody here use Fender single coils??

i have a Fender USA lonestar strat with texas specials, (H/s/s), with a pearly gates plus bridge, Now latley ive been messing around with the pickup height to try and get that sparkly, spanky, glassy true single coil clean sound,....you guys know what im talking about, what height do you guys recommend to get that type of sound?

If anyone has a texas special equipt strat id like to her some suggestions.

For the TS', you need to set them up low. I mean mid-pickup-flush-with-the-guard low. Balance the neck pickup accordingly (volume-wise), and you should be set.

I set mine according to the recommended height settings on Fender's site and then crank them down another mm or so on each side. The bridge pickup is cranked up a little higher. That's my favorite SSS set.

I have the same guitar, but I'm not at home. When I get there later, I'll do some measuring and post the info. Mine is set up pretty well. I love that guitar. A super pup combo.

im not a huge fan of the texas specials but i like them better set low. to me the wind is too aggressive to get a classic fender tone but you can get close

Just set it a bit low,

and play with the volume knob,

let your ears decide the sweet spot,

Texas Specials are my favorite single coil pups period! I agree setting them lower is better than higher.

I've never used Texas Specials, but I currently have CS 69's and 57/62's and I set them up one nickles width from the pickguard.

I think they sound great that way!

Never tried the texas specials..i use fender 62 reissue
PUPs in a strat and they are really nice.Guitar was set
up for me by a friend who does all that guitar tech stuff

I am using a set of stock 80's AVRI Strat pickups and a Fralin rewound set of the same in the two Strats I have...sound fine to me.

I'm going to be the contrarian here and state that I do not care for the texas specials in the neck position .Better in the bridge I think .
I like a stock ceramic fender single coil in both middle and neck.

I did like the gold lace sensor in bridge .

I have 'em, love 'em, concur on messing around to find the sweet spot. You can get glass, but sometimes not as much glass as "regular" single-coils. Also depends on your amp and signal chain. Good amp and not much in the way of the guitar helps.
