Anybody tried a PG/Custom hybrid, A2 or A5?

Right now I've got a Custom 5/Jazz set in my Les Paul which I have wanted to coil swap for a while now. I figured since I was going to do it myself I might as well do a different pickup than the standard 59/Custom hybrid. What I am thinking about doing is getting a PBg and one of the coils for the Custom and the other for the Jazz.

I did some searching but there doesn't seem to be much info on the PG/Custom. How similar is it to the 59/C hybrid? Should I put an A2 or an A5 in it?

Anybody tried this out?

I haven’t done it, but just knowing the magnets, I would say the a5 would probably be a good choice in the bridge in a LP if it is on the dark side, A2 if it needs more thickness. Both should work pretty well. Do you want more power or less?

Is pretty similar, I've noticed being slighly darker, but only if doing and A/B comparison.

It depends what neck p'up you need to balance it with. On its own, it sounds good with any magnet, although my least favorite is A5.

With both an A3/PGn and an A3/'59n, A2 and UOA5 were excellent matches, both output- and tone-wise. The UOA5 sounded a bit more "Rocky", the A2 more "Bluesy".

Discharged is right. Great pickup though. Prefer it with a polished a5 for added brightness though.
