Anybody try a Custom with triple Ceramic ala Invader/Black Winter?

Wonder what that would sound like? Would it just sound like a LOUD Custom or will it take on other EQ characteristics?

Generally adding more double thick first increases the output. Next, it makes the pickup sound fatter. With alnico, it makes it sound deeper and de-clankifies it. But ceramic is sort of clanky no matter what so there's less of the deepening effect.

I think you should try it. Actually screw the Custom, put 3 double thick cermaics in a 59 and have glass shards come at you.

Based on my experience with the BW, you'd get more output, a broader and flatter midrange, and less treble bite. Might be a fun experiment, but given that the point of the Custom for most people is the scoop and treble bite, it also sounds somewhat counter-intuitive.

Yeah if the Triple Ceramic is going to remove the Custom's raspy and more or less open top-end in favor of low-end muscle, I don't think I'd like the effect. I think the Custom is kinda rumbly in stock form already.
