Anybody used the 1960AV/BV?

Can anyone please explain the difference, I know I may be stupid but the Marshall website doesn't really clarify. And also can anyone just offer an overall diagnosis of how they sound (which I assume is amazing, but for which music styles you use it for). Slash uses this cab with the same speakers, and my Guitar Centre friend highly reccomends the AV over the A. Then I saw this BV, and I think the only difference may be angled vs. straight. Well I want the angled one, but I'm not sure thats the difference. Help.

Re: Anybody used the 1960AV/BV?

"A" is a top (slant) cab, "B" is a Bottom (straight) cab and standard 1960A/1960B come with G12T-75's.

"V" series (1960AV/1960BV) is the same cab, but with vintage 30's.

"C" series (1960AC/1960BC) is the same cab but with Greenback 25W

"X" series (1960AX/1960BX) is the same cab but with Greenback 25W and 70's style checkered grill cloth.

"TV" series (1960TV) is "Tall Vintage" is 60's style being 4 inches taller than a standard cab, with a grey grill cloth and Greenback 25W.

I have a 1960AX for sale for $700 (US) plus shipping. :smoker:

Re: Anybody used the 1960AV/BV?

i always put my foot in my mouth when it comes to gear..
1st: i havent got that much money available at the moment (shipping costs would probably kill me)
2nd: i havent got a head yet (there's a JCM800 in the works, but that too will have to wait regardless of the price)
3rd: i have no room to put it in. leaving it to sit in my bedroom would be the same as throwing it away as i dont have a band at the moment nor could i use 20% of it's potential
4th: i'm working on moving to england with my girlfriend so it'd be damn hard to lug all the stuff with me.. there's the space issue again also.

i was hoping i'd get to try one out at the store cos they dont like when you order something and then dont buy. you get my meaning =)
thanks for the offer though

Pssshhh.... excuses, excuses. :laugh2:

It's cool man, just shamelessly plugging my crap. :22:

Re: Anybody used the 1960AV/BV?

I just got my 1960AV on the week-end and it's not for sale (yet). Just kidding, it sounds massive and looks impressive with a Marshall head sitting on top. My gear fund is now completely dried out but at least I have loads of tone.

Re: Anybody used the 1960AV/BV?

Anyone have a pic of this checkered grill cloth and tall vintage cabs?

the AV sounded awesome with a Soldano Hot Rod 50, a SLO 100, a Mesa Rectifier... but sounded like ass with any of the Marshall heads I put through it. YMMV of course.

Re: Anybody used the 1960AV/BV?

I am looking for a cheaper Marshall 1960A cab (but I don't need the speakers, already have two V30's and two G12H30's for it). And I'm in Corona, you selling one?

Splawn has this one, brand new with all the plastic parts replaced with metal, rear panel replaced with 9-ply-pine, casters, and a bitchin cane grill for $550.
