Anybody using a Lace Sensor Blue in the neck?

I'm interested in one.

I'm not really into PAF-types in the neck position. They claim the Blue is PAF-y, but based on the specs and construction, I highly doubt it.

I kinda want a hot, fat, smooth sound from the neck position of my Strat, hence why I don't like PAF-types, but I don't want it to be muddy like a JB in the neck can be either. So 12K seems like a good middle ground, but I'm aware 12K doesn't really say much about how a pickup with such a different construction as a Lace can be.

Opinions?

I'd say it's pretty close to a PAF as far as single coils go. If that's too thick for you the Light Blue could help. The Light Blue I haven't tried though.

The Duncan Hot Rail I had in the neck of my Jackson was like that. It had a Fendery snap underlying the sound (maybe that was more from the Jackson scale length), but it also had a smooth, thick, darker top end on top of that.

I think I've read Mincer say one of the other Duncan rails is like a Jazz or humbucker in the neck. Can't remember which one.

No no, I actually want thicker and hotter than a PAF. More like an Evo Neck or a Distortion Neck, but not as thick/muddy as a full-on 16K JB.

I think the Hot Rails would be a safer choice, but at the same time, I kinda want to go left field, LOL.

There is a used Hot Strat for sale locally here. I think that would be interesting too.

the lace blue doesnt sound like a paf to me. its a warm fat clear sounding single coil. marketing is a lot of bs, i dont hear much paf at all

So would you say it's kinda sorta Quarter Pound-ish? Warm fat clear single coil kinda describes a QP to me.

ive never heard them side by side, but no. hard to describe the differences. the attack is different for one thing and the qp has more output

its a great pup! i like it very much, though i think it needs 500k pots in the neck to sound best

Late at the party but the high inductance of the Blue Sensor has already been mentioned in previous topics: almost 6.6H. It's 1.5 times more than a P.A.F. and 3 times more than a Fender CS69.

It's also the inductance of a Cool Rails Bridge in the neck slot - that I have in a guitar and whose sound in series is closer to a P90 than to any Fender single coil.

It keeps the narrow magnetic windows and related harmonic comb filtering of single coils sized pickups, for sure. But I see no reason to doubt that it sounds "PAF-y" since it has the low pitched resonant peak of humbuckers.

QP's are in the 7H range, for comparison.

Question for y'all... will a Fender cover fit my SDS-1? (I'm getting it tomorrow).

It's black, which is not bad, but I'd like to be able to install a white cover on it.
