Anyone compare the JB to a BBQ???

I can't see spending $200 for the new Shredder pickup which is based on the JB but I was tempted. I am sure it is nice. However, I am thinking of going back to the stand by - JB/59.

I like the BBQ, but I kind of miss the JB. It works so well for clean to crunch to to chunky drop D riffing to searing leads. I tried the Custom but it was too hard for me - the JB seems richer and smoother.

I would say the JB is as warm on the low end and mids as the BBQ, and clear! It also has a smoother and cleaner midrange/treble response than the BBQ.

Any others?

What is this Shredder pickup of which you speak?

Yes, I take that back - I could see spending the money if it is that good.

I wanted to mention that I was at a buddy's house last night. He recently replaced his JB with a BBQ so I had a chance to play his guitar the other day with the JB before the switch. This was good because I had forgotten what the JB sounded like since my Hamers. I think they are similar in that they are both thick in the mids. The BBQ seems to have more sizzle like the Pearly Gates even though the JB seems brighter for some reason. The BBQ is darker but a smidge but has more sizzle if that makes sense. The BBQ also seems as tight if not tighter with fatter bass.
