Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

Seems like a good idea for someone who has to rely on public transportation and has to carry a guitar in one hand, pedals in a bag, and an amp in the other hand. Plus, if it really does have that much headroom then the question would be, just how good does it take overdrive pedals?

I'm just basing on the fact that tube amps that are slightly bigger but manageable (Fender Princeton Reverb, Fender Pro Jr, Fender Champ, etc) don't have a lot of headroom. Princetons sound orgasmic, but you won't get clean clean when playing with a drummer, from what I've experienced.

Re: Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

ask PVFan

i think he's gona change his name to ZTFan

they don't sound bad. they benefit from a bigger speaker but i mean...200watts in that small of a package is really hard to complain about.

Re: Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

Yeah but use a bigger speaker, or an extension cab, and might as well carry a "real" amp, nah'meen brudda?

Re: Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

yeah i definitely feel you there; the advantage being you've got a speaker in there just in case.

hey i'm not tryin to sell you on it; i just know PVfan is goin gaga over his.

i'd be lookin at marshall class 5's or vox night trains if i was in your situation man. that and a Tele that i wanted to get knocked around :smokin:

Re: Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

it's not just the portability, but the actual sound. Which is good. Really good. And then the tiny price tag makes it no big deal, a non-issue. It is really, really fun to play with just the internal speaker. It is just so musical, and it sings like a cranked tweed even at low volumes I kid you not. But, as a bonus, it sounds big and beauty with great big speaker cabinets also, the bigger the better and the better the bigger. With my Uberkab it sounds like a Twin. Some people are concerned by the backs getting hot, especially with the older model. I have the older model. I have been able to talk to people at ZT and get questions answered. My 2nd one, another of the older models, just got here and I will head down and pick it up soon for some stereo shenanigans.

Re: Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

It is a very good amp for portability. I use mine for practicing on my lunch break at work. The speaker is small but it is designed to not break up and go to crap when being pushed.

Re: Anyone digging the ZT Lunchbox?

^ orange has one :D

I could really use one these days. For bass, I play my Music Man through a 15" cab, and it sounds amazing, but it's way heavy.

Setting up a tiny little cab/head setup would be pretty ok. If ZT made a 15" version, in just a combo format, it would be perfect.

I'll be on the lookout for that Orange to try soon, tho. EDIT: Just read some info about it...paired with one of the 15" SP Orange cabs, that would be pretty darn compact. Tube preamp into 500 watts...I'd dig it.
