I am !
for one thing it makes picking a pup a lot easier
there are too many makers these days with too many choices!
plus i like that duncans are tried and true they have endured since the late 70's and have IMHO the most transparent, natural tone of em all.
dimarzios are as old but they seem to still make them cheaper?
except for the virtual paf's where they actually use non brass plates and better wires.
So duncan makes me a lot happier for many reasons so keep up the great work everyone at duncan and hands down this is the best forum for pup info!

I love Seymour's pups but I've gotta rep for EMG.:bigok:

Duncan's are the best period.

Some of the little guys or custom winders like Lollar and Wolf make great stuff but I'll stick with what has served me best and have been the most reliable.....DUNCAN.

Re: Anyone else glad that duncans are the best pups out there?

I've used most brands over the years (Duncan, EMG, Lawrence, OEM) and Duncans definitely do it for me. I find that the other makers' pickups -- rather than be transparent -- color your tone too much. I have a friend who's a "tone king" though and has always used DiMarzio stuff. So I guess certain brands work better for certain people. For me... it's always been the JB as far as bridge pickups go. But I do need to branch-out and try some other stuff like the Custom and Pearly Gates. I've just been so satisfied with the JB that I've had little reason to experiment. I'd rather experiment with amps and just let the pickups be transparent and let the amp's tone shine through.

BTW... I do have several Tone Zones in a few guitars and do like them for rock/metal. But when I want to clean up the tone I don't like them at all.

Uh, yes. (job security for one thing) Pound for pound there is no other contender. And anything you can dream up that isn't in the production line will be made by MJ/Seymour/Derek and the gang in the custom shop.

I've got tons of guitars with tons of aftermarket pickups. There are so many wonderful pickup makers out there, and everybody has something to bring to the table. But when you step back and look at the big picture, there's virtually nothing Seymour Duncan can't do.

Re: Anyone else glad that duncans are the best pups out there?

I agree for the most part, except the "transparency" comments. The last thing I want in a pickup is transparent, or "nuetral" tone. (Or "natural", for that matter.) I cherish the fact that each and every Duncan pup has its own unique character and personality.

Otherwise . . . whats the point in having all these guitars? :D

Re: Anyone else glad that duncans are the best pups out there?

If duncans had more direct names and better descriptions, I would be buying them.

But nothing is really named after what it's meant to do and the descriptions/audio samples don't do it for me. No doubt they're great pickups though, I've been happy with the pearly gates, black back, and the screamin demon.

I agree 100% with this Artie. Otherwise, we would all be playing piezos, not that I don't love piezos.

I like Duncans the best for the most part, although I do own a few Dimarzio models that I appreciate just as much. Honestly, there are quite a few manufacturers that turn out top quality products. This forum however has been invaluble to me for my quest for the best pups, so for that alone I will always have a soft spot for the Seymours.
