i want to replace the sterile emgs in my eclipse,,,i have an ibanez sz with duncan distortions in it and it sounds amazing....my ltd is a light guitar,,,mahogany and it has a naturaly bright,,,semi hollowbody tone,,,,,any suggestions on which duncans would give me more low end ????has anyone else replaced their emgs in this guitar,,,,i play everything from heavy to jazz and want an all around great tone like my ibanez has....peace

Yep, I've got one of those, emg 81 in the bridge and 60 in the neck right?
I'm guessing since you like the distortions in your sz, why not get another set for the eclipse?

I'm keeping the emgs in mine.. I've got other guitars for versatility, this is my death-metal axe /m\

Custom and 59' will cover a lot of ground. Mahogany isn't supposed to be light or bright, confusing me.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but here goes..
I too would say the guitar is pretty light weight, in comparison to a les paul for example.
However I'd think that's because the eclipse is waaay thinner...

I wouldn't call my eclipse bright, but unplugged it seems more resonant than my les paul custom.

This surprises me a bit seeing that the paul is supposed to be a higher quality instrument. Maybe it's because the eclipse has tone pros or something, I don't know :scratchch

I also have an LTD EC-401w. I also did not like the EMG-81/60 pickups. I changed my pickups to Seymour Duncan Live Wire Classic IIs. (Easy with the Quik Connect wiring loom.) The guitar now sounds like an old-fashioned Gibson.

Another point to note. Some versions of the Eclipse model - such as mine - do not have the maple cap to the body. Instead, the body is all-mahogany. This gives a naturally "darker" tone. IMO, the active Duncans compensate for this with their clarity. It is a question of balance.
