Anyone ever ordered a "Custom 4"?

The mighty Custom has a whole army of variations, but has anyone tried it with an A4 magnet, making it a Custom 4?

Really curious!

PS: If A2 Custom is Custom Custom (Custom 2), shouldn't A4 Custom be called the Custom Custom Custom Custom (Custom 4)? I've heard about A8 Custom... Custom 8... so... maybe... Custom Custom Custom Custom Custom Custom Custom Custom?

Re: Anyone ever ordered a "Custom 4"?

Nobody would have 'ordered' one I guess, as A4 is a mag that is very rare at Duncan and custom shop prices would probably apply. I'm sure plenty have simply swapped an A4 in as that is a way easier method of getting there.

I think many people who are curious just bought a magnet and swapped it on a CC, Custom 5, or regular Custom. Custom pickups (not Custom Shops) are easily available new and used, and magnets have been ordered online. Perhaps Kojak has some insight on what one sounds like- I've never tried one.

Sounds so good!

Ok so it isn't a straight C4 in bridge position, it is a JB/C4 in middle position, but it sounds great!

I also got my idea to work exactly how I wanted: a 2 bridge humbucker guitar. I knew my JB/C hybrid with the JB slug was very gritty so I thought how can I make it even more gritty for bridge position? I stuck a A4 in, set the screw coil towards the bridge and cranked out the screws pretty high. Sounds awesome. Really organic, but it sounds like another bridge pickup! Just slightly mellower than the Distortion in the bridge.

Makes me wish that I had thought of it.

Haha no prob. Here it is with a 1 meg volume pot added to the middle pickup with 500k for the bridge and master 500k no load tone.

Looks like you have just enough room to put a hot rails in between...a triple bridge.
