Anyone got a cherry SG standard with white batwing pickguard?

As it says in the title, anyone got a cherry SG standard they've put a white full size pickguard on?

I can find literally nothing on the internet, even after asking on a fairly busy SG group on Facebook.

I bought one from Allparts but it doesn't fit any of mine (1999, 2005, 2016) but I'm thinking I might get one custom made if it looks good.

Nah. Right? It's missing something, just doesn't look very good.

Now THAT is more like it eh?! I routed out the middle slot with a drill and put in an old Epi humbucker. Didn't change any of the wiring, it's still just the regular HH three way setup.
I had been trying to sell this guitar for a few weeks as I have a black SG standard and that other really, really nice cherry one (which now has chrome pups in it) so this was surplus. But no one was interested so I thought I'd make it a little bit different. If needs be I can just put it back stock.

Always liked the look of the white pickguard since I saw the back of the Fly on the Wall album. Angus's was a proper custom, walnut, with Maestro, but this is as close as I'll ever get probably.

The white pickguard is legit. It's not that far from the Flying V Faded, which comes stock with a white pickguard.

I agree that the main aesthetic issue to deal with is the plainness of the white. The Flying V Faded solves that, if inadvertently, by contrasting the knobs against the pickguard.

Adding the middle pickup certainly helped in your case. Your SG looks cool. Good work!

Part of me (OK, the 80s part) is curious how HHH would look with 3 zebra pickups all oriented the same way color-wise.

I wanted to dislike SG's, but I keep coming back to them. the classic 'red' version. to bad I had to scrap THREE sg builds this year. wtf. as if they're haunted.

^ wow....what happened with them??

I've nearly come to grief with my SG build, but thats because its a carved top thicker body and I've had to 'make it up' as I go.

#1: neck joint proved unstable.
#2: improved the neck joint but not satisfied, generally
#3: FINALLY. neck joint, great! Glossy finish, great. Then, I pressed in the tailpiece bushings. And then it hit a bad piece of grain inside the timber. It pushed that piece out via the back. Had to scrap that too. Now, I'm going to reuse the neck and make a new body.

#4 and #5 will be finally correct. Damn.

I like it, but if it was Parchment it would tie in with the binding more. And I can't help but wondering what zebra pickups or regular black humbuckers would look like...
Love your idea, and it definitely stands out among literally every other SG that you normally see.

Yeah I wasn't sure about the white myself but it will fade in twenty years! :lmao:

Oh BTW I had plain black pickups in it at one point but it really didn't look right.

I like the white. Not enough for me to like playing an SG, though. But I always thought they looked great, and the weight is ideal, too.

I had an Epiphone G400 a few years ago - thought it looked amazing and since Angus was my hero for years I thought it would be a good guitar for me. But, like you, I just couldn't enjoy playing it. It felt weird, like the neck was in the wrong place or something.
For some reason the Gibson ones I bought this year all feel great - I mean like playing a Les Paul only thinner and with better upper fret access.
