Anyone got an epi gothic explorer?

Re: Anyone got an epi gothic explorer?

I came VERY close to buying one. After trying it out at GC, I decided that I didn't dig on the short 24.75" scale, the round neck profile, and the fake non-pointy explorer shape. You can really tell next to a real Gibson that all the points were rounded off. I also question as to wheter or not it's really mahogany- seemed very light weight. More like alder or basswood.

The pups need changing- either SDs or EMGs would make a big difference in sound. Have you played one before? If not, I suggest you try one out before you get stuck with a guitar you really didn't want to buy.

I tried one today. I thought it felt decent, but the pickups suck. I really didn't spend alot of time on it though as I prefer the shape of the ESP Explorer.

The rhythm player in my band has one, its alright, but it doensn´t feel as nice or solid as my jackson. Sounds pretty good with a duncan distortion in the bridge though.
