Anyone have a headphone amplifier they like?

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
You know - the small little ones that plug into the guitar and bluetooth to headphones/AirPods?

NO ROCKMAN!

Just looking for something to plug and play on trips.

Pocket POD has always been on my to do list....price is pretty steep. I just need a basic playable sound with distortion.

I use the vox metal amplug.

It's for regular wired headphones, but it's got different gain stages and also a few effects.
it seriously sounds so good I think I could record with it.

LIke $50 on amazon

VOX sound good but are flimsy and break easily. Dont recommend

I have the VOX/Metal it sounds great and mine hasn't broken in 10ish years. The fun thing is to plug it into my JBL bluetooth speaker via a cable and rock out. It can get pretty loud and it is portable so I can play on the deck or anywhere I like.

I love my Waza Air. No wires at all, just the wireless transmitter and the headphones, Bluetooth your phone to it and you already know there is basically no latency on the Boss Wireless. It might be overkill for your needs, but I love it.

10yrs? I bet you have the original model. I had that one too, but I gave it to one of my students. The new model has so much more stuff!
I took my vox amplug and ran it thru my pignose while we went to church camp in the mountains for a week, it was amazing! So BrOotAlz and yet, so portable.

I've considered running everything trough my Carlsbro Sherwood 60R acoustic combo/monitor;

-it has a headphone jack out. The signal from my PC (and especially my Zoom multi-effect) is quite silent... especially when I want to listen to Emperor! ;)

Fender Mustang Micro, Nux Mighty Plug, or Mooer Prime P1.

Must better than all the old stuff people are talking about above.

The Waza Air is good as well, but it's a different beast and price point. Seems like the app is bad which detracts from the experience.

Funny, I have absolutely used mine to record on a record before -completely agree.

Ive had 3 -Fendery one, Metal and VOX -all 3 broke on me -I've repaired them with no problem though -it's the jack or swinging mechanism (if you have that version) that fails usually

I am purging some gear and have one for sale. Like new in original packaging. PM if interested.

Had some time playing the Vox Classic. Again - thanks for all the recs!

Classic has more than enough gain for me
The effects are just enough to floor the sound if I want that
Proce was good.

Exactly what I needed!!! Great little unit. Did not know all the flavors and effects. Thought all it was was a little Vox AC30 in a box.

Don't get me wrong. I have played me some Rockmen in my day. I remember putting on the first one and going "Oh - THAT is the sound of Love At First Sting!" And a bunch of others. But this little guy is just awesome.

A battery-operated Pignose is hard to beat. I think it’s got a headphone out and should be a cut above those Amplug-style units. A new Pignose is maybe $125-145 depending on tolex style.
