Anyone Have a Triple Pickup Rickenbacker???

I've been thinking about getting a new 12-string with three pickups, and I've been looking at internet pics of the Ric model 1993 Plus.

How do the controls work on the three pickup Rics? Is there a way to blend in the middle pickup? What are the combinations of the selector switch? How useful?

Any other info would be appreciated.

TIA

Bill

I would question the usefulness of the middle pickup.

McGuinn famously only uses the bridge position pickup, via an onboard compression circuit. The Janglebox series of effect processors capture some of that legendary sound.

The middle pickup is there to make the neck pickup sound so muddy and bassy that you appreciate the tinny beauty of the bridge pickup; but only after running it through a nice tube amp, great speakers, a $$$$ studio mic, a $$$$$$$ mixing desk and outboard compressors, eq and reverb. Then it becomes a mighty fine instrument.
