Anyone have experience with the 6 string Nazgul or Pegasus?

Got a new Ibanez. Stock pickups aren't terrible but they're not great either. I'm looking a bridge pickup for playing detuned metal but something that will work nicely for lead playing too.

I watched Kieth Merrows pickups comparison video again and two that stood out where the Nazgul and the Pegasus.

It's my understanding that Keith used the Distortion for quite awhile and that the Nazgul is a tweaked version of it. I too am a fan of the Distortion and the Nazgul to me sounds more open and full and maybe abit less compressed which all seems very appealing although some people seem to think it is ludicrously high output.

The Pegasus seem interesting too as it's backed off in terms of output with an emphasis on clarity which I think would translate well to being an expressive lead pickup.

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences good or bad of either pickup?

Cheers

I like the Pegasus better for solos than the Nazgul, which has kind of an extreme EQ setting. The Pegasus is a little more versatile too, as the EQ is flatter and it has less output. It can do more things better, if that is your goal, too.

I agree with Mincer. The Nazgul is balls out and hard to control. It's incredibly aggressive; I did not like it at all. The Pegasus, on the other hand, is pretty great and not a one trick pony by any means. It's warmer than you'd expect something marketed for a prog metal tone would be, but it isn't muddy at all.
